Learning Programs at Earth School Aotearoa
Earth School Aotearoa offers place-based learning experiences rooted at Mangaroa Farms, near Wellington. All of our programs share a common approach: learning through land, creativity, relationship, and stewardship - held within gentle structure and seasonal rhythms.
Families join Earth School in different ways, depending on whether they are living locally or visiting Aotearoa for a season.
One Day Programs
Earth School’s One Day Programs offer term-based, one-day-per-week learning for children aged approximately 5–12. Designed for families in the Wellington region, these programs complement homeschooling or mainstream schooling.
Children attend the same day each week, allowing for consistency, strong relationships, and a steady learning rhythm. Learning takes place both outdoors and in the schoolhouse, supported by experienced educators.
This may be a good fit if you are:
a local family seeking a consistent weekly learning day
homeschooling and looking for facilitation and connection
attending mainstream school and wanting a nature-based, creative complement
Worldschooling Pathway
Worldschooling at Earth School Aotearoa is an immersive learning experience for families visiting New Zealand for one or more months. Families live on site at Mangaroa Farms, settling into daily life on the land while children are welcomed into Earth School’s weekly learning days alongside local children. This pathway offers continuity, friendship, and a sense of home while travelling.
This may be a good fit if you are:
visiting Aotearoa New Zealand for a season
seeking meaningful learning and connection for your children while travelling
looking for a grounded, place-based worldschooling experience
Our Shared Learning Approach
International visitors deeply enrich our learning community while benefiting from cultural grounding and local community. Across all programs, learning at Earth School Aotearoa is:
place-based — grounded in the land and seasons of Mangaroa Farms
relational — shaped through trust, care, and shared rhythms
invitation-led — encouraging curiosity without pressure
stewardship-centred — learning responsibility through real participation
Earth School is not a full-time or registered school. Our programs are designed to complement families’ wider learning contexts. Responsibility for children’s education remains with parents or caregivers.
